Seventeen yachts were raised into the skies above the River Brue in Burnham-On-Sea on Wednesday morning (October 21st) during the annual spectacle of the winter ‘crane-out’.
Organisers from Burnham’s Yacht Club took advantage of the high tide and calm weather conditions to proceed with the five hour operation to move vessels out of the river into the club’s boat yard.
The event happens each year at this time and marks the end of the summer sailing season.
The boats are moved into safe storage in the Sailing Club’s boat yard during the winter months and then craned-in during April at the start of the spring sailing season.
Two huge cranes towered over Burnham’s skyline during the work, which started at 6am on Wednesday morning.
