Firefighters were called to rescue a cow stuck in a river near Burnham-On-Sea last night (Wednesday, April 23rd).
The Fire Service received a call shortly after 6.30pm reporting a cow stuck in the River Parrett in Pawlett.
One fire appliance and specialist rescue teams from Bridgwater and Exeter attended.
“Fire crews confirmed the cow was stuck in a small tidal inlet. They donned dry suits to make attempts to secure the cow to rescue lines,” explained a spokesman.
“Once secured, crews then used a winch and rescue lines to release the cow from the culvert.”
“Fire crews then removed the cow over the top of a ridge in the river bank to a place of safety and the care of the cow was left with the farmer.”
