Firefighters from Burnham-On-Sea were called out to rescue a cow stuck in a water-filled in Berrow on Friday morning.
One fire engine from Burnham and a special water rescue team from Bridgwater were sent to Red Road in Berrow at 9.45am to help free the animal.
“On their arrival, the crews confirmed that a large cow was stuck in a water and mud-filled ditch,” said a spokesman.
“The animal was rescued by crews using an animal harness and rescue lines. The cow was then left with the farmer.”
