Burnham Mayor just misses out on County Council seat
Former Burnham-On-Sea Mayor Louise Parkin has missed out on becoming a Somerset County Councillor by the narrowest of margins – just 39 votes.
She was beaten into second place by Liberal Democrat candidate Rosemarie Parsons in the Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea South ward following the vote on Thursday May 5th.
Labour parliamentary candidate Dan Whittle was not far behind either, as shown in the results at the bottom of this page.
In the Burnham-On-Sea North ward, the result was far more clear-cut with Tory candidate Michael James Facey easily winning his seat on the County Council by the majority of 386 votes.
Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea South Results:
1. Parsons, Rosemarie (LD) – 1,673 elected
2. Parkin, Louise Emmeline Frances (Con) – 1,634
3. Whittle, Dan (Lab) – 1,446
Burnham-On-Sea North Results:
1. Facey, Michael James (Con) – 2,104 elected
2. Mansfield, Michael John (LD) – 1,718
3. Benson, Janet (Lab) – 887
