Councillors support plans to convert office space into new flats at Burnham town centre property

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge town councillors have this week supported a planning application to convert office space into residential flats at a town centre property.

The owner of 14-18 High Street in Burnham-On-Sea has submitted an application for the “change of use of the first floor offices to two residential flats.”

The application was supported by councillors during this week’s planning applications committee meeting.

“It is proposed to convert the first floor to create 2 dwellings a one-bed flat and a 2-bed flat. There are no major structural changes required for this change of use,” states the application.

“No additional openings will be made in the envelope of the building. The only addition will be an obscured glass privacy screen to the first-floor balcony area. This is to protect the privacy of occupiers of buildings to the rear.”

“It is not intended to alter the exterior of the building. There are no design changes proposed.”

A final decision will be made by Somerset Council on the application, case reference 11/25/00038.
