Sedgemoor District Council Leader Councillor Duncan McGinty will be meeting Prime Minister David Cameron in London this Wednesday (24th November) to call for money to be given to the region.

Councillor McGinty, pictured, will be discussing affordable housing needs and Sedgemoor’s ability to deliver economic growth in hard times of recession.

“He will also be discussing the potential impact of a new nuclear build at Hinkley Point and the knock-on benefits that communities should be receiving from such a project,” council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The issue of avoiding major flooding will also be on the agenda, and before the meeting Cllr McGinty will also meeting Housing Minister Grant Shapps to discuss the government’s ideas for building new homes and the forthcoming Localism Bill.”
