The Conservative Party has this week announced the names of their candidates who are contesting the district council elections in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge on May 7th.
In Burnham Central, the Tory candidates are Maria Clarke, a local community worker and former Burnham Mayoress; Michael Clarke, a current district councillor for Burnham Central, a Burnham town councillor and former Mayor; Mike Facey, who has run his own business in Burnham for 30 years and is a former town councillor and county councillor for Burnham.
In Burnham North, the Conservative candidates will be Cheryl Burnett, a local magistrate, past Chairman of Governors at King Alfred’s School; Peter Burridge-Clayton, current district councillor for Burnham North and a Burnham county councillor and former Burnham Mayor; and Paul Herbert, a local builder and former district councillor and cabinet member.
In Highbridge, the Tory candidates are Janet Keen, who has lived in Highbridge and Burnham for 25 years, and is a former Somerset county councillor and local town councillor; Roger Keen, who served in the Army, and is a former town and district councillor; and James Roughton, who grew up in Burnham and Highbridge who aims to be a younger voice who aims to bring fresh ideas to the council.
