Burnham-On-Sea teenager joins ‘life-changing’ NCS programme

-

A Burnham-On-Sea teenager has embarked on the first wave of a ‘life changing’ youth programme.

The National Citizen Service (NCS) is a unique four-week programme which sees 15 to 17-year-olds spend time away from home, learning new life skills and volunteering for at least 30 hours as part of a community project.

Connor Bone, pictured here on the far left, said: “For the first two weeks we were away team building and developing communication skills.”

“Last week we planned our social action project and we chose Sydenham’s children centre in Bridgwater.”

“We worked with a local garden centre to provide plants and design a garden for them so they have a more enjoyable place.”

“We also have run a bake sale and raised £115.80p.”

NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 15-17 year olds to gain valuable skills. Costing no more than £50 for the entire experience, including food, accommodation and activities, NCS is focused around fun, discovery, confidence-building and self-belief.
