A grand total of £2,275 was collected for local good causes during last Sunday night’s seafront fireworks display in Burnham-On-Sea – up on the previous display in 2019.
A spectacular seafront fireworks display took place last weekend and Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club, the official collector at the event, said it was grateful to all those who had dug deep to donate. The collection beat the 2019 total of £1,646.
A club spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our thanks go to everyone who gave to our collectors, raising a great amount for local charities and good causes.”
“Thank you to all our collectors and the Army Cadets for their help in collecting and to BOS Hair for the use of their premises.”
“The grand total, subject to checking at the bank, amounts to £2,275.77 plus a few foreign coins and a George V penny and farthing – we wonder where those coins have been for the past 50 years!”
A spokeswoman from Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, which organised the event, added: “The Council was delighted to invite the Rotary to collect at the event and thanks attendees for their generosity in supporting local good causes.”
