A short film recounting the story of Burnham-On-Sea Big Issue seller Colin Johnstone has been published on the Web this week.
The three-minute film, called ‘Working Not Begging’, is available online here and has been directed by film maker Michael Howard in conjunction with the International Film School Of Wales.
It features interviews with Colin (pictured) and Sylvia Sparkes, the Burnham resident who has been allowing him to live in a caravan on her premises. He has recently been offered a new flat in the area.
Burnham-On-Sea.com reported in February how Colin, 59, could be forced to move out of his caravan because of a row over planning permission.
His plight also caught the attention of the national press.
Sedgemoor District Council had demanded that the owner of the garden where Colin’s caravan is located must apply for planning permission.
And in March, an enforcement notice was issued requesting that Sylvia Sparkes stopped using her garden as the base for a caravan occupied by a Big Issue seller. She has appealed against that decision.
