The Burnham-On-Sea area has experienced its lowest temperatures this week for four years.
Winter finally arrived after an exceptionally mild December, with the thermometer dropping to -5.9C shortly before 4am on Wednesday (January 20th).
The last time the thermometer dropped that low was in February 2012 when -6.9C was recorded, says local weather enthusiast Steve Baggs.
Before then, the lowest temperature was -11.3C in December 2010 when the Burnham-On-Sea area saw heavy snowfall.
Weather forecasters are predicting milder weather with heavy rain and strong winds for the area over the next few days.
