Brean’s Coastline Players nominated for top regional drama award

-

Brean’s Coastline Players are celebrating this week after their fun-filled pantomime show was selected for a top regional award.

The group’s Dick Whittington – under the direction of Greg Fear, with choreography by Samantha Nicol and musical direction from Helen Newman – has been nominated by NODA (National Operatic & Dramatic Association) in the category Best Pantomime in the South West.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony in Bristol on March 4th.

“This is a very prestigious award awarded for groups across the South West, so we are thrilled to be nominated,” Sam told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The famous show tells the tale of a young man who goes to London to seek his fortune and become Lord Mayor of London.

With a cast of old and new faces it starred John Robinson as Dame Dolly Dumpling, Phil Crossland as the very Idle Jack, Pat Harris as Captain Cuttlefish, Judith James as his very silly mate Scupper and Kait Jarvis as the hero Dick Whittington.

Abbi Fear played his love interest, Alice Fitzwarren, while Rachel Nicol was the energetic Tommy The Cat, Samantha Nicol was a cockney-speaking Fairy Bow bells, Linda Bond was the evil Queen Rat, Robin Hewlett was Alderman Fitzwarren and Liz Bailey was the Sultana.

Meanwhile, tickets are on sale now for his year’s Coastline Players pantomime, Cinderall, at Brean Village hall from Monday 13th – Saturday 18th February over the half-term holiday week.

This year’s show tells the well-loved story of a beautiful girl, her nasty, Ugly Sisters and her Prince Charming. “There are ots of songs, dances, laughs and a little bit of magic along the way,” says Sam.

Tickets for Cinderella are available now from Brean Post Office priced at £8 for an adult, £5 for a child. Call 01278 751225 to confirm opening times.
