Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called out twice in one day to incidents on the town’s beach on Tuesday (June 30th) as the heatwave tempted out scores of extra visitors.
The Burnham team was called out at 11.36am when a dog suffered a broken leg on the beach.
Later in the day, just before 2.30pm, they were called out to help four people who had been spotted by a beachwarden to be thought in difficulty in the sea near the Pavilion.
A Burnham lifeboat was also en route but was stood down when it was clear they were safe.
