Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards have this week warned beachgoers not to put themselves in danger during the current spell of hot weather – after these two walkers sparked a scare at Berrow.
Coastguards were placed on alert on Tuesday evening (June 4th) amid concern for the two men pictured here, who were seen by a beach warden wading out across the mudflats in the Bristol Channel to reach the sea at low tide.
Burnham’s Coastguards, hovercrafts and lifeboats were placed on standby to help the duo.
“The men seemed oblivious to the danger they were potentially putting themselves in to try and reach the sea. They were about a mile from the shore,” the beach warden told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “Fortunately, they didn’t get into difficulty and they managed to get back without help.”
Burnham Coastguards have advised beachgoers to check tide times and look out for warning signs if they visit beaches during this week’s hot weather.
