Two teenagers who were rescued when they got stuck on a steep rockface earlier this year have presented Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards with volunteering awards.
Ten Burnham Coastguards were handed Queen’s Volunteering Awards for their work during the annual rescue services day on Sunday (July 28th).
Zac Stone and Dan Tucker were rescued from cliffs at Uphill earlier this year, as we reported here, and the duo said they were “honoured” to be invited to present the awards.
Station officer Steve Bird told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Rather than choose a VIP to present them, we thought it would be more fitting if several people who had benefited from our rescue services would perform the role instead.”
“The Queen’s Volunteering award has been given to the Coastguard Rescue Service, which includes local Coastguard teams across the country. Every volunteer gets a badge to mark their involvement.”
Zac added: “We were happy to come along and present the awards. The team werte so good to us earlier this year and so this was a way of thanking them. It was an honour to be invited to come along.”
