A footpath protest march in Berrow that was planned to take place on Bank Holiday Monday (May 31st) has been cancelled.
Campaigners in Berrow who are calling for a new pavement to be introduced along Coast Road told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Sunday that policing issues have caused the cancellation.
Organiser Ken May of the Berrow Local Action Team told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Because PCSOs do not work on Bank Holidays and the walk cannot be policed without them, it has been decided to cancel this date.”
The group had said last week that the march was “crucial” to maintain pressure on the County Council ahead of a debate in June when councillors will be considering the appropriation of funding from the 2011 Somerset Local Transport Plan.
