Coast Road accident prompts fresh fresh calls for footpath

-

A motorcyclist was injured in a three-vehicle accident on Berrow’s Coast Road on Tuesday (June 29th), prompting fresh calls for safety improvements along the busy road.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Coast Road at 3.25pm after a car towing a caravan collided with another car and a biker.

The male motorcylist was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with injuries that were not thought to be serious.

However, Ken May from Berrow’s Local Action Team, which is leading a long-running campaign to get a footpath introduced along the road (pictured right), told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the crash demonstrates the dangers that lie there.

“It is another reminder about the danger along this fast-moving road,” Ken told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Our action team met just last night to discuss how to take the campaaign forward after being told by the county council that there is no money for a footpath here.”

“We are now taking up the matter with our county councillor, Alan Ham. The issue of this dangerous road will not go away and a footpath is still needed here.”
