Coast Radio to launch in Burnham, Brean and Berrow this August
Holidaymakers in Burnham, Brean and Berrow are to get their own radio station for four weeks during August.
Coast Radio will be broadcasting on 105 FM from August 2nd to 29th and will provide visitors with a mixture of local news and information plus music from the 60s to the current day.
Coast Radio has been granted a temporary licence by government regulator Ofcom and is costing £30,000 to launch.
If successful, it hopes to be on air for two months next year and four months soon afterwards but could become a permament fixture on local airwaves.
Owner Josh Haywood (pictured), who is already a familiar voice to listeners of several local radio stations, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the station would provide news, weather and travel updates in addition to information about things to do and competitions.
“We’ll provide something for everyone – whether you’re in your car, caravan, chalet or on the beach,” he said.
Burnham-On-Sea.com will be supporting the station and will be mentioned regularly during its programming schedule, which is listed below.
