Coast Radio hopes to go full-time on Burnham-0n-Sea’s airwaves
A new temporary radio station for Burnham, Brean and Berrow has got off to such a strong start that its owner is drawing up plans for it to become a full-time station operating across the year.
Coast Radio is initially broadcasting on 105 FM for four weeks from August 2nd-29th as a trial.
But its schedule of local news, travel, holiday information and music is proving such a hit that owner Josh Haywood (pictured) believes there could be enough demand for it to broadcast throughout the whole year.
“We’re delighted with the response we’ve had from residents and holidaymakers alike,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The station is proving very popular. We hope to carry on broadcasting online for a few hours every day after the station closes down at the end of the month – and intend to back on 105 FM as soon as possible.”
He added that the station received 700 text messages from listeners participating in its competitions and requests during the station’s first week on air.
Coast Radio was granted a temporary licence by government regulator Ofcom earlier in the year and is broadcasting live from its own studios in Brean.
