A Burnham-On-Sea dog lover and her trusty hound are planning to take on their biggest challenge for charity.
Nell Barrington, with her dog Luna, is walking the South West Coast Path for Bloodwise and Ward Nine at Musgrove Park Hospital, in memory of her dad, Kit Barrington.
Walking the 630 mile South West Coast Path is equivalent of climbing the world’s tallest mountain four times and Nell hopes to do this in a year.
She wants to raise funds for the UK’s biggest blood cancer research charity, Bloodwise, and Ward Nine at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, Somerset.
Nell told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Dad was an incredible, brave man and fought a really rare form of leukaemia for many years. The great staff at Ward Nine were unbelievable caring, kind and gave dad and us so much support.”
“Any money that I raise will go to help them make life easier for the amazing people who spend time with them and to Bloodwise to carry out their vital research.”
“We want to raise as much money as we can for these great causes so would be really grateful for any sponsorship which via this page. We will be sharing our journey @Firstimeto and www.firsttimeto.co.uk.”
Nell and Luna recently completed a 58-mile warm up by walking the new Somerset Coast Path to raise awareness – and collect £754.25 for Alabama Rot Research.
Claire Horrex, Regional Manager for Bloodwise South West, added: “It’s fantastic what Nell and Luna are going to be achieving over this year. We are so grateful for their continued support and also their help in raising awareness of the charity and blood cancer. Please do support them and we’ll be keeping up to date on where they are throughout the year. If you’d like to know more about Bloodwise then please do visit our website www.bloodwise.org.uk.”
