Brean-based radio station Coast Radio is considering becoming a permanent all-year-round service from next year.
Owner Josh Haywood, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week that the station’s second summer of broadcasts had been so successful that it is now investigating whether to apply for a Private Community Radio Licence.
“We are one of around 100 part-time stations across the country that have been invited by OFCOM – the UK’s radio regulator – to apply for a permanent licence, but there are only a handful of licences available. We’re looking at all the options and hope to make a decision in November,” he said.
The station was on air for the month of August and broadcast a mix of non-stop music from the 1960s to today plus competitions, phone-ins and tourist information.
