Burnham-On-Sea has achieved category ‘A’ status in the annual Quality Coast Awards, it was announced on Monday (May 11th).
The awards seek to highlight resorts across the UK that make the most of their natural assets and take steps to maintain environmental standards in order to encourage visitors to return.
“The presence of car parks, toilets, information centres, as well as beach cleanliness and water safety, are taken into consideration before awards are granted,” Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Sam Elliott told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Bathing water data supplied from the Environment Agency during the past few days shows that the quality of our water is excellent. The water quality testing was sampled at Burnham-On-Sea, Berrow and Brean,” she added.
