Burnham-based dance group says rumours of its demise are untrue

-

A Burnham-based dance group has this week scotched rumours that it is folding.

The Coastal Cloggers, who perform Appalachian Clogging at events such as Burnham’s annual FolkFest (pictured), have acted to reassure local people that they are still up and running.

“Sadly, there have been a few rumours spreading around the area that The Coastal Cloggers have folded, but we would like to reassure everyone that this isn’t true and we are still very much alive and dancing,” leader Linda Bond told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The group holds weekly clogging sessions every Monday at 7pm in Burnham’s Baptist Church in College Street. Newcomers are welcome and people can find out more by calling Linda on 01278 780533.

Appalachian Clogging is a traditional percussive step dance described as a lively, improvisatory dance that encompasses elements of English, Irish, African-American, and Native American foot-work and rhythms accompanied by old-time music.
