A big clean-up operation is set to go ahead in the Burnham-On-Sea area during the next few months.
Sedgemoor District Council announced on Friday (January 18th) that its Clean Sweep initiative is to be extended to focus on areas that are normally out of the council’s jurisdiction, such as ditches, hedges, and areas of land where ownership is uncertain.
“The aim is to make the area look as good a possible regardless of ‘red tape’,” district council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The timetable for the work in our area is as follows:
Morland and Poplar Estate in Highbridge on March 3rd;
Burnham Town Centre and The Esplanade on March 10th;
Mark on 28th April and July 16th;
Brent Knoll, East Brent and Lympsham on May 19th;
Berrow and Brean on 30th July.
Claire Faun added: “We asked the parish and town councils to let us know of any problem areas or locations that needed extra attention. Sedgemoor’s Clean Surroundings staff have carried out a pre-visit to the areas, and drawn up a final list of what needs doing to make sure that the resources – such as men and equipment – are used to the fullest.”
