Burnham-On-Sea theatre performer Clare Hunter is returning to a childhood role by taking part in Weston Operatic Society’s latest production.
She has performed in productions of all kinds from pantomime, carnival concerts, festivals, summer season shows and musical productions.
Now, after spending the last eight years travelling and performing professionally all around the world, Clare has returned home and is happily taking a starring role in Weston Operatic Society’s production of the hit musical Annie.
The show takes place at the Playhouse Theatre in Weston-super-Mare from 29th October to 1st November. The shows are being held Wednesday to Saturday at 7.30pm and there’ll be a 2.30pm matinee on both Thursday and Saturday. Tickets are available from the box office 01934 645544.
Clare said: “I have been a member of Weston Operatic Society for 15 years, first joining them as a child in the children’s section, The Oppitts, performing in summer season productions, and musical shows along with the adults.”
“Over the years I have played several leading roles with Weston Operatic, also performing with, and choreographing for Brean-based pantomime group Coastline Players.”
“However, returning to the show Annie is going to be a special experience for me, as the last time I performed in the show was with a children’s theatre group in Bridgwater as Annie.”
“This time round, I have the pleasure of playing Grace Farrell, personal secretary and eventual love interest of Oliver ‘Daddy’ Warbucks the Billionaire who takes orphan Annie into his home.”
“The two girls who will be playing Annie for us – Sophie Adams and Freya Perrins – are fantastic! There is so much talent in the two young girls and all the children who feature in this production.”
“It’s so exciting to be performing alongside the youth of the society. Right now, the company, including our special cast member Bella as Sandy the dog, are all working hard in our final few rehearsals to bring another great family favourite to the Playhouse Theatre.”
