Oops! Thousands of cider bottles spilled after lorry crashes

-

Motorists faced long delays around Highbridge’s M5 junction on Wednesday evening (April 6th) after a lorry carrying thousands of bottles of cider overturned.

The vehicle toppled over on the Dunball roundabout next to junction 23 shortly after 4pm, spilling its load of bottles, as pictured here.

Three fire crews were called amid concern that someone might be trapped inside, but they found no-one hurt inside.

A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Crews confirmed that no persons were trapped within the lorry but diesel and cider were leaking.”

“Crews got to work cutting away the side of the lorry in order to confirm that it had not landed on any other vehicles. They confirmed there were no further casualties or vehicles involved and then dealt with the spillage.”

Police diverted traffic around the scene, but long queues of traffic developed leading up to the roundabout during the peak rush hour.
