Police recover stolen Burnham-On-Sea church crosses from pond

-

Burnham-On-Sea police have recovered two brass crosses from the bottom of a pond after they were stolen from a church in the town earlier this month.

The ornate crosses were removed from St Andrew’s Church during the past fortnight and were recovered by officers on Wednesday.

Two men were arrested on Tuesday (April 24th) on suspicion of the theft of the two brass crosses.

Aged 38 and 25, the pair have been released on police bail and the crosses were recovered from Morland pond in Highbridge.

PC Adrian Jones told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This is really good news for the community. The recovery of these irreplaceable pieces of history was helped by a local resident and the crosses can now be returned to their rightful place.”
