Burnham-On-Sea church car park to remain closed for an extra week

-

The car park at Burnham-On-Sea’s Our Lady and The English Martyrs church is to remain closed for an extra week due to ongoing refurbishment work.

The ’round church’ in Highbridge Road is currently going ahead with work to flatten and re-tarmack the area around the building.

The work had been due to finish on September 30th but is now scheduled to finish on October 7th.

The present site has not been re-laid for over 30 years and has many potholes plus the raised concrete foundations of the old temporary Youth Club building.

A church spokesperson apologised for the inconvenience and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Although the Car Park at Our Lady and the English Martyrs will be closed for a further week, due to a delay in the completion of the resurfacing, it will be open for the Sunday morning service.”

“The footpath between Marine Drive and Highbridge Road will be open all the time, except for Wednesday October 3rd.”

The work is being funded with a grant from Viridor Credits Landfill Community Fund.
