A Burnham-On-Sea hotel is encouraging visitors to attach colourful baubles and ribbons to a Christmas tree as touching tributes to loved ones while raising funds for a local charity.
The Victoria Hotel in Burnham’s Victoria Street is selling festive baubles and ribbons – with space on each to write brief messages remembering people who have passed away – with donations going to charity BARB Search & Rescue.
Victoria publicans Shaun and Carla McCann say there has already been lots of interest in the scheme for the town’s Christmas tree outside the hotel.
Carla, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We wanted to let our customers decorate the tree while raising money for a good cause for a second year.”
“By doing this, we can help local people remember loved ones at Christmas and also help a great local charity.”
“We have already had a lot of interest – the baubles are selling for a donation of £3.”
BARB Search & Rescue operates Burnham’s life-saving rescue hovercraft and its volunteers have been called out 50 times this year alone.
