Town Mayor hands out Christmas lights awards to residents

The winners of Burnham and Highbridge’s annual Christmas lights competition received their awards on Monday evening (January 10th).

Mayor Michael Clarke handed out trophies and certificates to the eight winners of the 2010 competition, as pictured here.

In Burnham-On-Sea, the best individual house award went to Keith Mitchell of 20 Winchester Road, while the runner-up was Ms Cornish of 40 Love Lane. The award for the best group of illuminated houses went to 2 and 3 Trinity Close.

In Highbridge, the Best Individual House award went to Sandy Prowton of 65 North Avenue while the runner-up was Sharon Bowcott of 25 Smith Way. And the best group of houses was won by 75 and 76 Church Street.

The best business entries were Secret World Wildlife Rescue in Victoria Street, Burnham and the runner-up was Hair Craft of 13 Regent Street.

The best residential displays in the two towns were judged by town councillors Ken Smout and Phoebe Harling, while Dennis Davey picked the best business entries.
