BBC Points West’s Somerset reporter Clinton Rogers has been named as the VIP who will officially switch on Burnham-On-Sea’s Christmas lights next month.
The town’s Chamber of Trade announced on Wednesday (October 17th) that Mr Rogers, pictured, will flip the switch at 4pm on Saturday November 24th to illuminate the town over the Christmas period.
The ceremony will take place during a day-long event, which will start at 11am with a Christmas market featuring over 20 stalls along the High Street.
At 1pm the Burnham and Highbridge town band will play a range of festive music in the High Street, followed at 2.30pm by a special Christmas performance by Burnham-based drama group Curtain Call.
At 3.30pm, popular local opera singer Tim Pitman will entertain the crowds with a range of stirring music, followed at 4pm by the big switch-on in the centre of Burnham’s High Street.
Father Christmas will also drop in, along with street performers from Circus Americano. Orchard FM will visit with its roadshow, and Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue hovercraft will also be in attendance.
