BBC Points West presenter David Garmston will switch on Burnham-On-Sea’s Christmas lights during a special day of festive entertainment this Saturday (November 25th).
The event, in Victoria Street, will be preceded by an afternoon of live entertainment and family attractions from 1.30pm, organised by Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade & Commerce.
There will be festive performances on stage from local choirs, dance groups and performers – and Father Christmas will make a special visit, touring around the town centre. There will also be festive stalls, displays and fair attractions throughout the afternoon.
The event will also see the return of Burnham’s BOS Factor festive talent competition when local people can perform on the stage to win a £100 prize.
The Christmas lights will be switched on at 6pm by the BBC’s David Garmston alongside local dignataries.
David has worked on west country TV for over two decades and is the male anchor on the TV show alongside Alex Lovell – who switched on Burnham’s Christmas lights in 2014. David also presents the BBC1 show Sunday Politics.
“It promises to be a superb event to mark the official start of Burnham’s Christmas season. We’re delighted to have David lined up to light up the town centre and support our local businesses,” said a Burnham Chamber of Trade spokesman.
