An afternoon of free festive entertainment will be held in Burnham-On-Sea this Saturday (November 22nd) during the countdown to the town’s annual Christmas lights switch-on.
BBC Points West presenter Alex Lovell, right, is to switch on this year’s display across the town centre.
A day of great festive entertainment and a Christmas market overseen by Burnham Chamber of Trade will be held outside the Victoria Hotel in Burnham’s Victoria Street.
The event starts with the Coastline Singers at 12.30pm, followed at 1.10pm by the BOS Factor talent show.
At 2.05pm Berrow Hand Bell Ringers will be entertaining the audience. At 2.35pm Father Christmas will make his official arrival, handing out free goodies to children. There will also be a display of real reindeer in Victoria Street to accompany Santa!
The choir from Burnham’s St Joseph’s School will sing from 3.05pm, followed at 3.35pm by a performance by Curtain Call.
At 4.05pm, St Andrew’s School choir will be singing on the stage, followed at 4.45pm by the grand switch-on by Alex Lovell.
After the switch-on, there will be festive performances by Burnham Youth Choir and Burnham On Song.
An outdoor food and craft gift market will be held along Victoria Street throughout the day from 12 noon until 5.30pm.
Those wishing to join the BOS Factor talent contest can still do as the deadline for entries has been extended to this Friday. More details are available here.
“It promises to be a superb event to mark the official start of Burnham’s Christmas season. We’re delighted to have Alex lined up to light up the town centre and support our local businesses,” said Chamber of Trade Chairman Mark Newman.
Burnham Chamber of Trade is also organising a late night shopping evening across the town centre on Friday December 5th when shops will stay open until 8pm to enable shoppers to browse gifts.
