With Burnham-On-Sea’s carnival finished for another year, the centre of town took on a distinctly festive feel on Tuesday (November 13th).
A team of workmen was in town to install the first 20 of Burnham’s High Street Christmas lights.
Shoppers were also given a brief preview of what the street will look like when the lights are officially switched on in a fortnight’s time. The lights were tested for an hour, as pictured above.
Alex Turco, Chairman of Burnham’s Chamber of Trade, which oversees the festive lights, said: “The work to install the lights always goes ahead just after the carnival due to the risk of one of the floats hitting the lights. With the carnival now over, the work started first thing on Tuesday morning.”
BBC Points West reporter Clinton Rogers will perform this year’s formal switch-on at 4pm on Saturday November 24th.
