Burnham-On-Sea Christmas lights installed across town centre

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Christmas lights are being installed across the town centre this week ahead of the official switch-on later this month.

Over 60 lights are being added to lamp posts and buildings to add a splash of festive colour to the town’s main shopping areas.

Glastonbury Festival supremo Michael Eavis will switch on the lights during special event on Saturday November 29th.

The familiar face behind Somerset’s pop extravaganza – who was spotted on the town’s beach last summer – will light up the colourful display.

This year’s switch-on will be held in Victoria Street and the switch-on ceremony itself will be held at 5pm, with a day of entertainment starting at 2.30pm.

Local folk group Jockstrap Ensemble will open the afternoon’s entertainment and this will be followed by choral entertainment from Curtain Call and big band Boulevard Swing. Father Christmas will also put in a special appearance.

The event is being organised by Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade, and a reception for the group’s members will be held afterwards at the Princess Hall.
