Several of Burnham-On-Sea’s decorative seafront illuminations that were not destroyed in last January’s storms will be seen around the streets of Burnham and Highbridge this Christmas.
Burnham-On-Sea.com learns the towns’ two Chamber of Trade groups have this week bought over 20 of the illuminations from the town council at a special discounted rate.
The Burnham group confirmed this week that it would be adding eight of the colourful illuminations – which feature a white snowflake in their design – to its display, while the Highbridge Chamber of Trade have bought around a dozen of the illuminations.
Alex Turco, Chairman of Burnham Chamber of Trade, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were very happy to be offered the chance to buy these undamaged lights and add them to add to our display.”
“They have been comprehensively checked over for safety reasons and will enable more of Burnham town centre to be lit up this Christmas alongside our existing lights. The Burnham light switch on event will be on Saturday, 24th November and full details of this event will be announced in mid October.”
Burnham-On-Sea.com reported earlier this year how winter storms had damaged large numbers of the decorative illuminations along the town’s seafront. Earlier this summer, a brand new set of lights costing over £20,000 was installed in their place.
