Burnham Choral Society in fine voice for charity singing challenge

-

Members of Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society this week joined more than 280 singers from across the region in taking part in a musical challenge to raise cash for charity.

The singers gathered at the Colston Hall in Bristol for the day-long event, held in aid of Cancer Research UK.

“The idea was to learn a programme of music, mostly on the day, and then perform it to the audience who were invited to donate to the charity,” the society’s Julie Skinner told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The members of the choir had never met the David Pitts Scratch Chorus and Orchestra before, let alone played or sung with them, which meant they all faced a real challenge.

Julie added: “Having said that, each person gave an enthusiastic performance and, judging from the flag waving, it went down very well. We enjoyed the experience so much that we are all hoping to take part again next year.”
