Tickets are on sale for Burnham & Highbridge Choral Society’s Spring concert, which is to be held on Saturday 10th May.
Talented guest soloist Mary Morgan (Soprano) will be joining the choir for this very special concert, along with a 12 piece orchestral ensemble.
The evening will include songs from the musical of the moment Westside Story, plus Handel’s Messiah (Part two), Handel’s Four Coronation Anthems, and also music from a range of other composers.
The unique concert will be held at 7.30pm in St John’s Church, Highbridge.
Mary Morgan, pictured right, is an experienced soloist who is originally from the U.S. and who appears frequently with choral societies throughout the southwest of England.
In 2010 she was a soloist for the conductors Sir Neville Marriner and Brian Kay (a founder of the King’s Singers), singing the Mozart Requiem and Haydn’s The Creation, respectively.
She has also appeared with the counter-tenor, James Bowman in a performance of Handel’s Messiah. She has sung with Amici and Orchestra West.
Further from home, she was soloist in Rutter’s Magnificat and the Fauré Requiem on tour in Madrid and Segovia, Spain. She has also toured Estonia as soloist for the Brahms’ Requiem and more recently, Budapest and Krakow with the Wycliffe Choral Society.
Mary was pleased to be part of a charity concert in aid of ‘Care for Casualties’ at St Mary Magdalene Church in Taunton last November, with BBC guest presenter Clinton Rogers.
“We appreciate the continued support we receive from you, the audience. You managed to fill St. Andrew’s Church at our last concert, so come along and fill St. John’s Church too!” the society’s Julie Skinner told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Tickets cost £7.50 and are available from members, or from Grandma’s Attic in Victoria Street (cash only) or purchased on the door.
There is plenty of parking available at Asda on the night, which is only a short walk away.
