Over 40 singers from three choirs in the Burnham-On-Sea took part in a fundraising concert in the town on Friday evening (July 19th).
‘Coastline Singers’ joined up with ‘Burnham on Song’ and ‘The Siobhan Johnson Singers Junior Choir’ for the special performance in Burnham’s Catholic Church to raise funds for The Highbridge Festival of the Arts.
An audience of over 150 people attended the event, and were treated to strong performances of songs from Abba, The Beach Boys, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Les Miserables and The Military Wives.
There were also outstanding solo performances by Rachel Perry, right, who sang ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ by Eva Cassidy and Matt Perry who sang a medley from Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
The evening culminated with a powerful performance by all three choirs singing ‘Sing’ by Gary Barlow – which was met with loud applause from the audience.
“We were really pleased with how the evening went – all the singers sang wonderfully – and we were also delighted with the audience’s feedback,” said organiser Siobhan Johnson. “We hope to have raised a good sum for the festival.”
