Children in Highbridge have been learning to how to use chopsticks and say Chinese phrases as they celebrate Chinese New Year this week.

The children at Churchfield School are studying China as part of an ‘Explorers and Adventurers’ topic and are building up to celebrate New Year.

Children from Year 2 welcomed a group of overseas students from Wells Cathedral School to help them.

The students, from Hong Kong and China, thrilled the children with a variety of activities from learning Chinese phrases, calligraphy, singing, using chopsticks, origami and fan-making.

The event was enjoyed by all and now the children are looking forward to Chinese New Year, which falls in the school half-term holidays.
