Burnham-On-Sea’s new £500,000 Octopus Children’s Centre will be officially opened next week.
The centre – which has been developed by Somerset County Council in partnership with Sedgemoor District Council, the local parish council and other groups – will be opened at 2pm on Friday July 11th with a celebration and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Children’s Centre is on the same site as Burnham Infant School and the day will see pupils participating in various activities for the afternoon.
There will be a country dancing display by pupils, as well as a singing group, official speeches, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Local County Councillor Rosemarie Parsons told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This Children’s Centre will be a valuable addition to Burnham. The new facilities will be a key point of access to services for our local parents and children.”
“I am pleased that we have reached this stage and am grateful for the hard work of the local steering group and officers from Somerset County Council.”
Burnham-On-Sea.com revealed in April that building work had been completed.
