Police cordoned off part of Highbridge’s Childrens Centre on Monday (November 24th) as they began their investigations into a burglary over the weekend.
Mean vandals smashed their way into the centre in Coronation Road, causing widespread damage to the front of the facility, as pictured here.
Julian Plested, the centre’s manager, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A massive boulder was thrown through the main glass door, causing a great deal of mess.”
“They broke into the centre’s office and seem to have had a good look around but nothing was taken.”
“We’re very unhappy that this has happened when we operate the centre for the community. There’s nothing to steal here, so it was completely pointless.”
“It has been very upsetting, but we managed to seal off one side of the building to keep the children safely away. They accessed the building from a back door. We’re trying to not let it bother us and business is continuing as normal.”
He added that it is not yet clear how much the damage will cost to repair. The centre shares a site with Beechfield Infants and St John’s C of E Junior School.
