Almost 200 people filled the main hall of Burnham-On-Sea’s Lakeside Holiday Park on Saturday evening (February 9th) when more than £2,000 was raised for a town charity.
The fundraiser, called ‘A Mysterious Night Of Fun and Laughter’, included a race night, cabaret, Irish bingo and charity auction in aid of the Burnham Community Medical Equipment Fund.
The group also marked the occasion by handing out several big cheques to help local organisations buy much-needed new medical equipmement.
A bumper cheque for over £3,500 was handed to St Margaret’s Hospice. The event’s organiser, Tom Ashton, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a great night enjoyed by all and we’re very pleased with the amount raised for the charity. My thanks go to everyone who came along on the night and to those who kindly sponsored the event.”
A further cheque for £240 was handed over to King Alfred Boxing Club’s Andy Churches, Carol Churches by Gill White, Sue Walker and John Hodgson of the Burnham Medical Equipment Fund. The money will buy new medical beathing equipment in time for the group’s next boxing event on May 24th.
Hundreds of pounds was raised from the auction of various items, including a Liverpool football club scarf signed by the team, a fishing kit and a giant monkey!
