Burnham-On-Sea’s Chamber Of Trade will be holding its annual general meeting this evening, Tuesday April 21st.
The meeting will be held in the upstairs function room of the Somerset & Dorset public house in the High Street and will be open to all businesses in the town.
Speakers include Lucy Gregory from Sedgemoor District Council, who will speak about the town’s Retail Watch scheme.
Derek Meredith from Avon & Somerset Police will talk about crime prevention and Sgt Ian Kennett will encourage local businesses to attend the next Burnham PACT this Thursday (April 23rd).
Also, Phil New from the Highbridge & Burnham Carnival Association will talk about plans for the 2009 carnival.
At the start of the meeting, winners of the spot the odd item in the window competition will be announced and presented with their prizes.
Further business of the meeting will be to receive a report from the committee of activities in 2008/2009; to receive accounts for the year ending 31/3/2009 and to elect committee for 2009/2010. Anyone wishing to join the committee should contact the Chamber as soon as possible.
Chairman Alex Turco said: “Crime during a recession is a concern to many businesses and so we have brought together a number of speakers to deal with crime prevention.”
