Members and supporters of Burnham-On-Sea’s Chamber of Trade have thanked their outgoing chairman after two busy years in the role.
Rhonda Mills stepped down during the group’s AGM, held at the Somerset and Dorset pub, on Thursday evening (June 14th).
She was presented with a gift by members and thanked for her support of the town’s traders.
A new committee was appointed and new roles will be appointed at the Chamber of Trade’s committee meeting later this month. Newcomers are welcome to join.
“It has been a very satisfying two years as Chairman, but frustrating at times when the Chamber does not always get the support it needs,” she said.
The possibility of merging the Chamber with the recently-formed Town Team was discussed but members agreed that there continues to be a role for a standalone Chamber of Trade to represent Burnham’s business community.
During the meeting an update was also given by Alex Turco from the Burnham Town Team regarding the good progress being made on a second bid for Mary Portas funding to regenerate the town centre.
