Fundraisers complete Bridgwater to Burnham relay walk for charity

-

Fundraisers from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge braved heavy rain to complete a fundraising walk for charity on Monday (January 13th).

Nicola Noad and Tamara Ellis completed a walk from Bridgwater to Burnham in fancy dress during the latest of their fitness-themed ‘Challenge 12’ fundraising events.

The duo were taking part in the Somerset leg of a nationwide walking event called ‘Team Honk Relay’ from Land’s End to John O’Groats for Sport Relief and Comic Relief.

“Team Honk is a group of over 200 bloggers spread across the country who have come together to form a relay team,” Nicola told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“There are teams swimming, running, walking, sailing, marathon running, rollerblading along the route while passing the baton from one to the other.”

Monday’s walk began at Asda in Bridgwater when the baton was handed over. The duo, dressed in onesies and armed with collection buckets and banners, did a lap of Bridgwater town centre and then headed to Burnham-On-Sea.

In the evening the group travelled by car to Crewkerne to pass the baton on to the next person.

Challenge Twelve raised a grand total of £3,212.12 in 2013 for 12 different charities. This year, the group has set itself a target of £12,000.
