CCTV in Burnham-On-Sea’s Manor Gardens is to be upgraded following a cash injection from the region’s Police and Crime Commissioner.
Sue Mountstevens has this week earmarked £14,000 through the Somerset Community Safety Partnership to Burnham and Bridgwater’s CCTV coverage as part of an overall investment of £98,000 across the county.
Part of Sedgemoor’s share will be spent on installing new cameras in Burnham’s Manor Gardens to improve safety.
Burnham Town Council Clerk Denise Emery told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This is great news for the Manor Gardens.”
“We have recently been discussing with the police, Sedgemoor District Council and Watermark Financial Services – the new owner of the Manor House – how we tackle vandalism and anti-social behaviour in the gardens.”
“The CCTV facilities in the park will soon be improved to provide better coverage and make it safer.”
Sedgemoor District Council currently monitors cameras in Burnham and Highbridge.
