Fundraiser to swim length of English Channel for Burnham Sea Cadets

-

The Vice Chairman of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Sea Cadets aims to make a splash for cash by taking part in a 22-mile sponsored swim to help raise money for the group.

Carol Roberts will be undertaking the 22 mile swim, which is the length of the English Channel, at Fusion Health Centre at Edithmead throughout October.

She says the funds raised will go towards a much-needed upgrade of the Sea Cadets building in Cassis Close, Burnham.

Carol told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am involved with the Sea Cadet Unit as vice chairman as my son went to the cadets as both a junior and senior cadet and they did so much for him.”

“I have always wanted to swim the channel distance and thought this would be a really good way of, not only challenging myself, but to give something back to the cadet unit for all the help they gave Tom.”

“I am hoping that if I can do about 200 lengths per day then the distance will be covered in about two weeks.”

If you feel you are able to make a donation to Carol, send it to the unit in Cassis Close, Burnham-On-Sea, for the attention of Carol Roberts.

Meanwhile, Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Sea Cadets are also on the look-out for new committee members. To get involved, contact the unit to arrange a meeting.
