This year’s Burnham-On-Sea Carnival Queen and Princesses will be chosen during a special ceremony in the town tonight (Saturday, July 30th).
The Carnival Queen and Princess Selection Evening will be held from 7.15pm at Burnham’s Princess Theatre And Arts Centre.
Organisers from Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club say they are pleased with the level of interest from nominees this year.
Andrew Bryant from Burnham Lions Club, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have had 20 girls come forward for the two roles as Princesses and six have been nominated for the position of Carnival Queen.”
“We’re very pleased with the support shown and are looking forward to a great evening.”
The evening will start with a pre-contest briefing at 7.15pm and judging will begin at 8pm, followed by an evening of entertainment hosted by Russell Dyson with music provided by local DJ Paul Hayle. There will also be an interlude with dancing from Highbridge’s Lucy Gunter Dance School.
Admission to the event will cost £3 for adults and £1 for under 16s on the door. The girl selected as Carnival Queen will win £300 and those chosen as Princesses will win £100 each.
This year’s Burnham carnival will be held on Monday November 7th – full details are available via the link below.
