-

Burnham-On-Sea’s new Carnival Queen and her Princesses have been chosen at a ceremony in the town on Friday evening (July 31st).

Jessica Rogers, 15, was selected by the judges to lead this year’s carnival parade as Queen.

She will be accompanied by her two Princesses, Danielle Hockey and Bethany May Ellis.

The event to choose the winners was held at Burnham’s Ritz Social Club and was organised by Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club.

Organisers said they were pleased with the response to this year’s competition, with six youngsters in the running for Queen and 13 entries for the role of Princesses.

The judges were Julie West and Charlie Bird from N-Hance, Anya Burridge from Purr-fect Pottery, Malcolm Borland from the Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea Carnival Association, and Colin Rufus from Burnham Lions.

The Queen and Princesses will lead the Carnival Procession on Monday 9th November 2009.
